Bringing your dog from Italy to Switzerland
Bringing a dog to Switzerland follows the EU pet scheme: microchip, a rabies vaccination at least 21 days old, and the right entry document (EU pet passport from the EU, or an official health certificate from listed third countries). No quarantine.
Switzerland applies EU pet-travel rules. From the EU you use the EU pet passport; from listed third countries (UK, USA, Canada…) you need an official health certificate. The rabies vaccination must be at least 21 days old before travel. No quarantine. (Unlisted countries require a rabies titre test and a 3-month wait.)

The 5 steps, in order
1. Implant an ISO-compliant microchip
Have an ISO 11784/11785 microchip implanted before the rabies vaccination.
2. Rabies vaccination (at least 21 days before travel)
Vaccinate the dog against rabies after the microchip. You must wait at least 21 days after the primary vaccination before travelling. Keep it valid until entry.
3. Entry document (EU pet passport or health certificate)
From the EU, travel with the EU pet passport. From a listed third country (UK, USA, Canada…), obtain an official veterinary health certificate issued shortly before travel.
4. Book transport (flight or car)
If you fly, book your animal's spot early; if you drive, plan your route and keep the EU pet passport within reach.
5. Travel to Switzerland
The dog travels with the passport or certificate. No quarantine for compliant pets.
