Bringing your cat from Ireland to Singapore
Bringing a cat to Singapore needs an AVS import licence, a microchip, rabies vaccination and — for most EU/UK/US origins — a rabies serology test. Quarantine is generally not required if fully compliant.
Singapore's requirements depend on your country's rabies category. For most EU/UK/US/Canada origins (Schedule II), you need a rabies vaccination AND a rabies serology test (RNATT), plus an AVS import licence. Post-arrival quarantine is generally not required if fully compliant — but the serology and licence take time, so start early.

The 7 steps, in order
1. Implant an ISO-compliant microchip
Have an ISO 11784/11785 microchip implanted. All documents and tests must be linked to this number.
2. Rabies vaccination
Vaccinate the cat against rabies after the microchip. Keep it valid through to entry.
3. Rabies serology test (RNATT)
Required for Category II origins (most of the EU/UK/US/Canada). The blood sample must be taken at least 28 days after the rabies vaccination — never the same day — then analysed at a WOAH reference or approved laboratory. The sample must also be drawn at least 90 days before departure.
4. Book your cat's flight (well in advance)
Book your cat's spot on a flight to Singapore. Pet spots (both cabin and hold) are limited and sell out fast — this date is a comfortable recommendation to book early, not a hard deadline.
5. AVS import licence
Apply for the AVS import licence (you first need a cat licence to keep a cat in Singapore). The licence is required before travel.
6. Veterinary health certificate
Have the required veterinary health certificate issued and endorsed by the government authority of the country of departure, shortly before travel.
7. Travel to Singapore
The cat arrives with the import licence and documents. Generally no quarantine for compliant Schedule II animals.
